The European Green Deal is a set of policy initiatives brought forward by the European Commission with the overarching aim of making Europe climate neutral in 2050. The Green Deal is an integral part of this Commission’s strategy to implement the United Nation’s 2030 Agenda and the sustainable development goals. It is a roadmap for making EU’s economy sustainable. It outlines investments needed and financing tools available and explains how to ensure a just and inclusive transition. It includes action plans for circular economy, building renovation, pollution-free environment, ecosystem and biodiversity, transport and farm to fork strategy for green and healthier agriculture. Moreover, it establishes mechanisms for supporting these actions to all regions such as the Just Transition Mechanism aiming at supporting those carbon at coal-mining areas where moving to climate neutrality will be more complex. Finally, R&D and innovation and external relations are also actions that are analysed in the European Green Deal.
